Wow, so I never thought I would ever blog for fun, but here I am! This semester, I am taking visual editing and am now photo editing at the Missourian. I really did not know what to expect from this, but I am so glad I did it. These past two weeks have been incredible! It’s so fun coaching photographers and fleshing out stories together, it’s made for a great time.
Working with all of these awesome photographers has already started to make me think about my photography and how I can improve. I think photo editing is more than just sitting at a desk, waiting on photographers–it’s working with reporters on visual storytelling, finding photos that will work for print, and sifting through thousands of beautiful archived photos.
Last week, I had the pleasure of editing an excellent video by one of our photographers that you can see here. Evan got some amazing material from Jeff Mizanskey and I had the privilege to go through the interview and pick the best parts. It may have taken a while, but it was definitely worth it.
I’m excited to see what other things I’ll be working on as the year goes on. I’m going to try to keep this updated, but we’ll see how that goes.
